In West Godavari district, a guava farmer’s journey from overseas employment to organic agriculture highlights the power of farmer-led experimentation. By consistently using Gramabazaar’s Nemzap and GrowthFit, he achieved nematode control, healthier roots, better fruit quality, and long-term orchard recovery without chemical dependency.
A Farmer’s Return to Agriculture and Organic Trials
Suresh, from Kadiyadda village, returned from Singapore after 15 years and resumed farming in 2021. Inspired by Gramabazaar’s YouTube channel, he began small trials with Nemzap and GrowthFit. After observing positive results, he continued applying them twice a year across his guava orchard.
Complete Nematode Control and Root Recovery
After three years of use, Suresh reports 100% control of nematodes in his field. Even severely damaged guava trees recovered through direct root feeding, without digging pits. Only one plant loss was recorded, while all others showed strong regrowth and long-term root stability.
Better Fruit Quality and Market Preference
The guava grown with GrowthFit showed higher weight, firm texture, and superior taste. Traders consistently selected his produce first, even when markets were down. Though no extra price was demanded, assured offtake and heavier trays provided clear economic advantages over neighbouring orchards.
Low-Cost Fruit Fly Traps and Pest Control
To manage fruit flies, Suresh designed traps using reused chemical containers, reducing rain damage and improving durability. Each trap cost about ₹45, compared to ₹100 commercial traps. Combined with organic attractants, this approach effectively controlled pests while lowering input costs across the plantation.
Farmers as Field Scientists Through Root Feeding
By experimenting with direct root feeding of Nemzap and GrowthFit, Suresh reduced fruit drop and revived dying plants. His experience proves that farmers, through observation and small trials, can act as field scientists—adopting sustainable, chemical-free practices with confidence and long-term success.
