The Gramabazaar team visited Jagan’s paddy field near Narasaraopet, where a first-time farmer shared his journey of adopting natural and balanced crop nutrition. Over the past year and a half, Jagan has been carefully observing his field rather than blindly following common fertilizer advice.
Visible Difference Between GrowthFit and Chemical Farming
Jagan demonstrated a clear comparison between his crop treated with GrowthFit and a neighboring field managed with chemical fertilizers. The GrowthFit-treated plants showed broader leaves, deeper green color, and stronger stems, while the chemically grown crop appeared narrower, lighter in color, and less consistent. According to him, chemical-based greenness often fades within days, whereas the GrowthFit crop maintained steady color and vitality over time.
Step-by-Step Crop Management
Before transplanting, Jagan used WeedZap from Gramabazaar to manage weeds effectively, achieving nearly 75% control despite rainfall. Fifteen days after transplanting, GrowthFit was applied by mixing it with sand and broadcasting evenly across the field. Minimal chemical fertilizers were used only due to social pressure from neighboring farmers, and even then, in very small quantities.
Soil Health and Natural Indicators
The presence of earthworms, healthy root systems, and consistent plant growth reassured the farmer about improving soil health. He observed that natural inputs take time to show results but remain stable and long-lasting, unlike quick chemical reactions.
Lower Costs, Better Confidence
For two acres, the total cultivation cost so far is around ₹30,000–₹32,000, excluding labor. With no pesticide sprays and reduced fertilizer use, Jagan feels confident that his profit margins will improve as soil health continues to recover.
Moving Towards Direct Rice Sales
Instead of selling paddy as grain, the farmer plans to mill and sell rice directly to consumers interested in naturally grown produce. This approach, he believes, reduces dependency on middlemen and ensures better returns for farmers.
