The Weight of Investment and the Worry

We have kept this mango orchard pure organic for seven or eight years now, right from the planting day—never once touching chemicals. As any farmer knows, that’s a promise you make to the land, but you also have to make sure you get a proper return on your hard work. Our goal is simple: for every rupee we invest in the orchard, we need to successfully bring back ten rupees. This season, that goal felt far away because we were struggling badly with the leaf hopper (kodi penu), which was ferocious. If we can just manage that hopper and the sticky honeydew bug, then we know our success is guaranteed. The thing is, today, the average farmer often doesn’t get a good price for his crop. That’s why we were ready to try something new, like GrowthFit, to ensure the health of the trees was solid enough to fight these problems. We knew that if we controlled the pests, the rest would follow, bringing that much-needed return home.
The Test of Trust and the Eleventh Day

Just as the flowering season was starting, we decided to apply GrowthFit. We mixed it and sprayed it across the orchard. Now, trust takes time, especially when you are putting faith in a natural method. For ten whole days after spraying, I honestly didn’t see a change. My own tractor driver was doubting it, saying to me, “What crazy medicine are you spraying? I don’t see anything happening!”. It can be hard to stand firm when the people working with you are questioning the method. But I told him to just do his job and wait, and that we would check again later. Then, on the eleventh day, things started shifting. We checked the orchard, and the results were starting to show up clear as day. The flowering was happening much faster than expected and, crucially, there was much more of it deep inside the canopy. It worked so well that compared to the surrounding orchards, our trees were looking speedier and healthier. Fifteen days later, when we checked again, the result was confirmed for both me and my driver.
Nature’s Steady Hand and True Health

The health we saw was incredible. We had a huge branch snap off in a storm, but after applying the tonic, the tree put out new growth and recovered its position quickly—it got its stamina back. When a tree is this healthy, its fruit feeding and growth are naturally robust. The beauty of this natural approach is that the fruit sets come in stages, step-by-step. This is completely different from the methods that commercial buyers use, like spraying sulfur to produce heat and force every flower, even those not ready, to bloom on the same day. If they do that and that single ‘season’ fails, the whole crop is lost. But since we are following nature’s timeline with our method, if one wave of fruit fails, we still have another wave coming, securing our success. We have had three different stages of fruit come through this season, and the crop has settled. This is the difference: that satisfaction you feel from producing pure, natural fruit—a satisfaction that no chemical can ever match. Every farmer should remember: you should never underestimate the next person, and the world deserves to eat pure, natural fruit, not just chemicals.
