High density farming techniques to maximise yield
In Edpugallu village, Kankipadu mandal, Krishna district, Srinivas Parvathaneni is a remarkable example of modern sustainable farming. Balancing his career as a teacher alongside his passion for agriculture, he has transformed his 4-acre orchard into a thriving cultivation area with over 35 varieties of fruit trees. Among them, 3 acres are dedicated to Taiwan jamun, grown using high-density farming techniques to maximize yield.
However, this season, Srinivas faced a serious setback. His Taiwan jamun orchard suffered severe damage due to root-knot nematodes, a common soil-borne pest. Despite using multiple chemical treatments, the problem persisted, leaving many trees weak and some even on the verge of dying. This not only threatened the orchard’s productivity but also posed a potential financial loss.
Sustainable solution using natural solutions
